The National Health Insurance Scheme implemented at Otrokpe R/C and Presbytarian schools aimed to increase awareness, improve access to quality health care and promote health insurance among schools in Otrokpe and it neighboring communities. Overall, this project provide a summary of objectives, community and school mobilization, enrolment activities and challenges faced.
The objectives of the NHIS project in Otrokpe R/C and Presbyterian schools were;

OBJECTIVES
- To register and renew eligible students within the ranges of 1 – 17 years, respectively.
- To sensitize the community and the various schools about the benefits of NHIS.
COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL MOBILIZATION AND SENSITIZATION
The project and NHIS team carried out sensitization activities across Otrokpe community. Local leaders, towncriers, head teachers and youth groups were engaged to raise awareness. Flyers and radio announcements in the local language were also used to disseminate information. The sensitization exercise significantly increased awareness and community participation.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Mobile NHIS registration units were deployed to ease access for the elderly and newborn mothers. Registration officers ensured that all enrollees completed the required biometric and documentation processes. At the end of the project, 257 participants were attended to.

CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED
Language barrier hinder effective communication and engagement with the community. We had 3 students above 17 years.
CONCLUSION
The NHIS project in Otrokpe R/C and Presbytarian schools achieved its core objectives of raising awareness, enrolling residents and facilitating access to quality healthcare. The various schools and the community members embraced the scheme and service delivery met basic expectations. With continuous support and targeted improvements, the NHIS has the potential to significantly improve health outcomes.
