The Peculiar Women of Substance (PWS) Foundation, in partnership with the Ghana Blood Service, has successfully completed the 8th Edition of the Blood Donation Drive, marking another milestone in its ongoing mission to promote voluntary blood donation and support Ghana’s hospitals with safe and reliable blood supply. Held over two days and across two senior high school campuses, this edition recorded a remarkable 308 voluntary donors, demonstrating the power of youth engagement, community partnership, and health advocacy.

A Two-Day Lifesaving Experience
This year’s drive expanded into a two-location outreach strategy to increase participation and maximize impact.
Day 1 – Wesley Grammar School, Dansoman.
March 12, 2026
The first day began with donor education, mobilization, and a steady flow of volunteers from early morning until closing.
By the end of Day 1, 102 students and staff had successfully donated blood. The excitement among participants, especially first-time donors, reflected a shared passion for saving lives.
Day 2 – Teshie Technical Senior High School
March 13, 2026
Day 2 saw an even greater turnout.
Students from Teshie Technical SHS showed exceptional enthusiasm and responsibility. The team recorded 206 successful donors, making it the most impactful day of the drive. Classroom sensitization and peer influence played a major role in the impressive participation rate.
Across both days, medical personnel from the Ghana Blood Service maintained a smooth, safe, and professional donation process as PWS volunteers guided donors and managed logistics.

Total Impact: 308 Units of Lifesaving Blood Collected
Collecting 308 pints of blood means hundreds of lives can be saved or supported.
These units will help:
- Mothers experiencing complications during childbirth
- Children battling severe anemia
- Emergency accident victims
- Patients undergoing surgeries and medical procedures
Every donor became a hero and every pint represents hope restored.
A Thoughtful Donor Experience
To ensure comfort and care, the PWS Foundation provided:
- Nutritious meals for all donors
- Refreshments including water, soft drinks, and milk beverages
- Donor appreciation packages
- Support staff on-ground to offer guidance and reassurance
These efforts helped create a warm, supportive environment where students felt valued and appreciated for their contribution.
Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact
The success of this edition would not have been possible without the support of dedicated partners.
Organizations such as Ghana Blood Service, Niche Ghana, Firenite Tech, Akyaa’s Kitchen, Eni’s Transport, JuiceAfric, Blak Afrik Tie and Dye Batik Hub and others played key roles in ensuring donor comfort and smooth execution of the program.
Their contributions, whether in the form of refreshments, health screenings, logistics, or manpower, helped create a seamless, safe, and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Voices From the Field
